The story of Skilpadkos
While exploring the veld (bushland) your eyes will suddenly catch sight of a striking red velvety cats’ claw which the local people referred to as Skilpadkos (hyobanche guinea).
This plant attaches itself to the roots of other plants in order to draw water and nutarians from its host. During early times the flowers were dried and diluted for use as ink.
